Samantha Ruth Prabhu, at the trailer launch of Citadel: Honey Bunny in Mumbai, made a bold statement about her role in the series, emphasizing how it breaks traditional gender norms in action films. Joined by co-star Varun Dhawan and directors Raj and DK, Samantha expressed her excitement about being part of an action-packed spy narrative that centres on a female character.

In her remarks, she pointed out the longstanding trend in the spy genre, where male characters typically take the lead. She said, "From time immemorial, we are just used to – if there’s a spy series or a film, it’s always a male character at the centre, doing all the cool action, saying all the cool dialogues, and also saving the day." Samantha praised Citadel: Honey Bunny for allowing her to perform thrilling action sequences, which she feels is a significant shift in representation for women.
