The 50: The newly launched reality series The 50, has been rocked by a serious controversy involving Haryanvi singer Sapna Choudhary and Nigerian rapper Yung Sammy. The show, which brings together 50 contestants to test their physical and mental endurance, is now facing a public backlash over allegations of discriminatory behaviour. The controversy erupted during a daytime discussion among the contestants.
While standing outside in the sun, Sapna Choudhary reportedly expressed concern about her complexion, saying, "Dhoop mein kaala toh nahi ho jaungi na?" The situation escalated when she allegedly called over Yung Sammy, a prominent Nigerian rapper known for Hindi hits like Raat Khatam and Mr. Rambo. Pointing towards him, she reportedly asked, "Aise toh nahi ho jaungi na?" The remark has been widely condemned by viewers and fellow contestants as a blatant ridicule of his skin colour.

Meanwhile, the comment sparked immediate concern inside the house. Actor Karan Patel was among the first to acknowledge the gravity of the statement, later discussing the incident with Shiv Thakare, Krishna Shroff, Dino James, and Riddhi Dogra, all of whom reportedly expressed their surprise and disappointment. Yung Sammy, who has earned a loyal following in India for his unique journey and musical talent, handled the situation with remarkable dignity. According to reports from within the show, Sammy calmly addressed the remark, stating that the same message "could have been expressed in a more respectful and suitable way." Social media platforms have been flooded with criticism following the episode.
