Sargun Mehta has made a big name for herself in the Punjabi film industry as well as the Indian television industry. The actress-turned-producer has backed many projects including Kala Shah Kala, Jhalle, Udaariyaan, and Junooniyat to name a few. Recently, she credited Ekta Kapoor for paving the way for female producers in the television industry. Whereas, she also shared that people in the Punjabi industry have underestimated her as a producer. Also, Sargun felt that acting is a far more easier job than producing. 

In an interview with PTI, Sargun said “In TV, Ekta Kapoor cleared the way for everyone. She left no stone unturned to make sure that we didn’t have that hassle of being told, ‘How will you do it ?’. She already did it so much that nobody could question. In Punjabi movies, they were not used to the idea of us producing, not that they mocked me, they underestimated me. They didn’t think that I’ll pull it off the way I did.”

She continued, “I realised now that production is a thankless job. As an artist when I come on set, I feel, ‘I’ve a lot of work to do’, but there are others like the unit , the producer and creative team who have been working on it for months or years.”

"Sometimes when artists crib, I’m like, ‘You’ve a fun job to do, do not crib’. I’m not saying it is an easy job, it’s difficult to be an artist but the other job can override your perception of what one is doing. I do it because I like to have control over what I’m making,” she added.

Sargun is currently backing up a new television serial 'Badal Pe Paon Hai'. She rose to fame with the popular show 12/24 Karol Bagh. In the show, she was paired with her real-life husband Ravi Dubey. Later, she appeared in many hit Punjabi movies including Qismat, Angrej, Surkhi Bindi, Kala Shah Kala, Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh and Love Punjab to name a few.
