Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi-starrer Selfiee, which was released in cinemas on Friday, February 24, 2023, failed to impress the audiences and critics alike. The film became one of Akshay Kumar’s lowest career openers and continued to perform underwhelmingly over the weekend.

Also starring Diana Penty, Meghna Malik and Nushratt Bharuccha in the lead roles, Selfie has been directed by Raj Mehta. Take a look at the day-wise box office collections of Selfiee:

Selfiee Box Office Collection Day 1: Rs 2.5 crore

Selfiee Box Office Collection Day 2: Rs 3.8 crore

Selfiee Box Office Collection Day 3: Rs 3.89 crore (approx.)

Selfiee Box Office Collection Total: Rs 10.24 crore (approx.)

This is the 5th consecutive film that has underperformed at the box-office for Akshay Kumar. The actor has had a series of underperforming films including Ram Setu, Bacchan Paandey and others.

Recently, Akshay Kumar announced in an interview that he will be renouncing his Canadian citizenship. Speaking to a leading news channel, the Selfiee star said, “India is everything to me… Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained is from here. And I’m fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything….”

Speaking about the poor run of his films, the actor said that he has had a similar experience in the past. “I thought that ‘bhai, my films are not working and one has to work’. I went there for work. My friend was in Canada and he said, ‘come here’. I applied and I got in.”

Akshay Kumar continued, “I had just two films left for release and it is just luck that they both became superhit. My friend said, ‘go back, start working again’. I got some more films and I kept getting more work. I forgot that I had the passport. I never thought that I should get this passport changed but now yes, I have applied to get my passport changed and once I get the renounced status from canada…”
