Stree 2, featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has sparked a controversy over alleged plagiarism. The film's poster, released for Amar Kaushik's much-anticipated sequel, has drawn comparisons to the Stranger Things Season 2 poster. Fans have pointed out comparable visual effects, colour schemes, layout and character arrangements in the two posters, both of which feature a supernatural theme. This resemblance has sparked widespread online debate about the potential copying of design elements.

Some fans have even labeled it a 'direct lift' from the popular Netflix series, fueling the debate on social media. A user said, "The Stree 2 poster seems to have borrowed heavily from Stranger Things 2." Another added, "this isn’t the first they (Bollywood) copied a cover for a popular show/movie." A third comment read, "Why does this look so inspired by Stranger Things 2?" Another added, "The pinnacle of 'You can copy my homework. Just don't make it look too obvious' type of excuse." Another one commented, "Same Same ... But Different. Guts"

However, some defenders argue that while the color palette may be similar, the Stree 2 poster features a unique background and specific film references. They suggest that any overlap is due to the shared supernatural themes rather than direct imitation.

The Stree 2 poster bears a striking resemblance to the Stranger Things Season 2 poster, with both featuring similar color schemes: a blue background at the bottom, an orange background at the top, and the title written in red. Additionally, the expressions of the cast on the Stree 2 poster closely echo those of the Stranger Things cast in their Season 2 poster. The layout mirrors that of Stranger Things as well, with Rajkummar Rao positioned at the top of a pyramid-like arrangement, followed by Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi, and Shraddha Kapoor centered at the bottom.

Stree 2 is the sequel to the 2018 hit Stree and is the fifth installment in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. The film will release on August 15, facing competition from Akshay Kumar's Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's Vedaa. Despite this, Stree 2 has already sold over 100,000 tickets within 48 hours of advance bookings.
