JE Entertainment Desk: 'Skull Island' is an adult animated adventure series and is an installment of the MonsterVerse ready to add another feather to the franchise. The series is set to release on June 22, on the streaming giant, Netflix.

'Skull Island' is the fifth installment in the media franchise and fiction universe MonsterVerse which is created by Brian Duffield and looks like a promising release as the buzz of the series in the popular franchise on social media is already brewing.

The animated series has 8 episodes and will revolve around the shipwrecked in the South Pacific, where a group of explorers encounter a menagerie of fearsome creatures including a giant ape, who particularly rules the island. All eight episodes are set to release on the same date.

The episodes of 'Skull Island' are of 20-26 minutes each and are written and directed by Brain Duffield. The titles of each episode are 'Maritime Pilot', 'The Last Blank Spot on the Map', 'What's Up, Croc', 'Breakfast Fit for a Kong', 'Doggone It', 'Terms of Endearment', 'You're Not a King,' 'You're Just a Stupid Animal' and 'You'll Never Catch a Monkey That Way.'

The series is set in the early 90s and is filled with talented voice actors. The series features Nicolas Cantu as Charlie, Darren Barnet as Mike, and Mae Whitman as Annie. Additional cast includes Betty Gilpin and Benjamin Bratt.

The first teaser of the series was released on May 23 whereas the full trailer was released on June 9, 2023. The series however was announced in 2021. 'Skull Island' is a prequel to the 2017 film, however, it is a separate series. The MonsterVerse also includes five Godzilla films.

In January 2022, another television series in the same franchise was announced named 'Godzilla' and 'The Titans. Both are available on Apple+TV.
