Sky Force Movie Review: This Republic Day is marked by an added dose of patriotism with the release of Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya starrer Sky Force'. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, this gripping war film goes beyond typical Bollywood action. It’s a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes of India’s Air Force, telling untold stories of sacrifice, bravery, and unwavering patriotism that helped shape India’s victory in the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War.
At the center of the film is the powerful relationship between two men whose courage defines their country’s freedom. Wing Commander K.O. Ahuja (Akshay Kumar), a determined officer seeking justice, and T. Vijaya (Veer Pahariya), a fearless pilot willing to risk it all for his country, come together on a mission to uncover the mystery behind Vijaya’s disappearance during a key airstrike that changed the course of the war.
Sky Force isn’t just about retelling history; it makes you feel it. With every dogfight in the sky, the film highlights the emotional weight of duty, sacrifice, and the deep bonds between soldiers. It’s more than just an action film—it's a tribute to the spirit of service and a moving exploration of what patriotism truly costs. Akshay Kumar delivers his best performance yet as Wing Commander Ahuja, capturing both the strength and vulnerability of a man fighting not just a battle, but his inner demons. His portrayal adds emotional depth to every action scene, making the film feel real and intense. His presence grounds the story, turning Ahuja’s journey into a deeply personal battle.
Veer Pahariya, in his debut role as T. Vijaya, impresses with his portrayal of a young pilot who defies orders in the name of doing what’s right. His character’s passion, vulnerability, and sense of duty make you feel the emotional impact of his decisions and sacrifices. The film also features moving performances from Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan. Kaur, as Ahuja’s wife, shows quiet strength, while Sara Ali Khan, playing Vijaya’s pregnant spouse, brings an emotional depth to the screen. Their characters’ personal struggles add an essential human touch to the larger-than-life action.
The pacing of the movie keeps you hooked, whether it’s a high-stakes aerial battle or a quiet moment of reflection. Sky Force isn’t just about the outcome of the war; it’s about the lives changed in the process. Visually, the film is a feast. The aerial combat scenes are stunning, blending impressive VFX with practical stunts to make the dogfights feel immediate and real. These aren’t just action scenes; they’re meticulously crafted sequences that pull you into the cockpit, making you feel every twist and turn.
What sets Sky Force apart is that its action isn’t just for spectacle; it’s tied to the characters’ emotional journeys. Every aerial manoeuvre reflects their internal struggles, adding layers to the stakes of survival, sacrifice, and honour.
The film’s score amplifies the emotion, with powerful beats during the action and soaring melodies during more reflective moments. It adds to the intensity, making every scene more gripping.
