Korean superstars Gong Yoo and Song Hye-Kyo have officially begun filming their highly anticipated Kdrama, Slowly and Intensely. The project, which has been a hot topic among fans, went on floors on January 12, 2025. Written by celebrated scriptwriter No Hee-Kyung and directed by Lee Yoon-Jung, the series is expected to premiere later this year.

For the first time, Gong Yoo and Song Hye-Kyo are teaming up on-screen, making this project even more exciting for Kdrama enthusiasts. Fans have been eagerly awaiting their pairing, and the announcement of the show’s filming has sparked a wave of excitement across social media.

Set in the 1960s and 1970s, Slowly and Intensely delves into the early days of South Korea’s broadcasting industry. The series explores the burgeoning entertainment business during the post-Korean War era, offering a glimpse into the lives of both the stars on stage and the creators behind the scenes.

With a reported budget of 75 to 80 billion KRW (approximately $51.3 to $55.3 million), the drama is set to be a grand 22-episode series. According to reports, filming is expected to wrap up in the first half of 2025, with a Netflix release on the horizon.

In addition to Gong Yoo and Song Hye-Kyo, the cast includes Kim Seol-Hyun, Lee Ha-Nee and Kim Jeong-Woo. The drama was initially titled Show Business before being renamed Slowly and Intensely.

No Hee-Kyung, known for her acclaimed works like It’s Okay, That’s Love, That Winter, the Wind Blows and Our Blues, is reuniting with Song Hye-Kyo for the third time. Meanwhile, director Lee Yoon-Jung brings her expertise from hits like Coffee Prince, Cheese in the Trap, and The Lies Within.

Adding to the buzz, Song Hye-Kyo recently unveiled a fresh new hairstyle, which she hinted was for her role in Slowly and Intensely. Fans quickly connected the dots, and her transformation has only heightened anticipation for the series.

Gong Yoo, fresh from the success of Squid Game 2, is stepping into this role with high expectations. Fans are eager to see him reunite with director Lee Yoon-Jung, who previously worked with him on the iconic Coffee Prince.
