Sooraj Pancholi Makes First Statement After Acquittal In Jiah Khan Death Case: ‘The Truth Always Wins’

Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi made his first statement after being acquitted of ‘abetment to suicide’ charges in Jiah Khan death case. The actor took to his social media account to share a story with the hashtag ‘God is great’.

Taking to his Instagram story, Sooraj Pancholi wrote, “The truth wins. #GodIsGreat’.” Take a look:

Sooraj Pancholi was found ‘not guilty’ in the death case of Jiah Khan. In the verdict given on Friday morning by special Judge AS Sayyed, Sooraj was acquitted, "Due to paucity of evidence, this court can't hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted."

Sooraj Pancholi was booked on charges of ‘abetment to suicide’ of the late Bollywood actor following a six-page long letter found in Jiah Khan’s apartment. The actor was arrested in July 2013 and was out on bail.

Sooraj Pancholi was arrested under Indian Penal Code section 3016, which states that "If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.”

In the letter, Jiah Khan accused Sooraj Pancholi of mental and physical torture. The actor also revealed that she was four-months pregnant with their child, but Sooraj asked her to abort their baby. 

“I aborted our baby when it hurt me deeply. You destroyed my Christmas and my birthday dinner when I came back. When I tried my hardest to make your birthday special. You chose to be away from me on Valentines Day. You promised me once we made it to one year we would get engaged,” read excerpts from the letter written by Jiah Khan as reported by India Today.

The letter further read, “All you want in life is partying, your women and your selfish motives. All I wanted was you and my happiness you took both away from me. I spent money on you selflessly you would throw in my face. When I would cry for you. I have nothing left in this world to live for after this.”
