South Korean Sex Scandal: South Korea is facing public outrage over reports of deepfake pornography targeting young women, including members of popular Kpop band BLACKPINK. In response, President Yoon Suk Yeol has called for swift action to combat these widespread digital sex crimes. The issue has highlighted the misuse of the Telegram messaging app, where fake explicit content featuring female students and teachers has been created and shared.

This development came on the heels of the arrest of Telegram's founder, Pavel Durov, in France, who is facing allegations that the platform failed to adequately address child pornography, drug trafficking and fraud.

Hentai Porn Vs Deepfake Porn

Hentai Porn

Hentai is a genre of Japanese adult content, encompassing anime, manga, artwork, video games (eroge), and other media. Rooted in Japan's complex cultural and historical views on sexuality, hentai has evolved into a diverse and thriving industry. Often self-published, hentai works comprise a significant segment of the doujin market, including doujinshi. This genre encompasses various subcategories, showcasing a wide range of sexual activities, relationships, and unique fetishes, catering to different tastes and preferences.

Deep Fake Porn

The creation and dissemination of deep fake pornography, which involves manipulating existing images or videos using advanced technology to depict individuals without their consent, has raised significant ethical concerns. This form of synthetic pornography often targets female celebrities and can be used as a means of revenge porn, leading to widespread controversy. In response, lawmakers and technologists are working together to develop effective solutions and legislation to address these issues and prevent the misuse of deepfake technology.

The deepfake pornography in South Korea is victimising hundreds of women and girls, including a significant number of minors. In a shocking revelation, a recent report by a South Korean broadcaster exposed a group of university students who were operating an illicit Telegram chatroom, where they shared sexually explicit and manipulated deepfake content featuring their female classmates.
