Star Box Office Collection Day 4: Released on May 10, 2024, the Tamil romantic drama, written and directed by Elan, introduces audiences to a compelling story of ambition and perseverance. Starring Kavin in the lead role, the film also features performances by Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and Geetha Kailasam. Star made a strong debut in India, grossing over Rs 2.8 crore on its opening day.
The narrative centers on Kalai, a determined individual striving to achieve his acting dreams despite numerous challenges. Produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar, this film is a collaborative project between Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Rise East Entertainment.

After a blockbuster weekend, Star experienced a significant drop, earning Rs 1.15 crore on Monday, May 13, 2024, with an overall Tamil occupancy of 22.26%. The occupancy rates for different showtimes were as follows: Morning Shows at 16.39%, Afternoon Shows at 23.98%, Evening Shows at 20.27%, and Night Shows at 28.41%.
About Star
Star boasts a talented cast, led by Kavin as Kalai, an aspiring actor. Lal and Geetha Kailasam portray Kalai's parents, while Aaditi Pohankar and Preity Mukhundhan bring the characters Jimikky and Meera Malaikodi to life, respectively. Initially, Harish Kalyan was set to star, but Kavin eventually took over the lead role. The project, originally titled 'Kavin's Next,' began in August 2023 and later underwent a title change. Principal photography, primarily conducted in Chennai, concluded by mid-February 2024. The film features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Ezhil Arasu K, and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.
In June 2019, Harish Kalyan was expected to collaborate with Elan on his next directorial effort, reportedly produced by Amma Creations. Director Elan confirmed the project in December 2020, with Yuvan Shankar Raja set to compose the music. However, by July 2021, reports suggested the project was shelved due to creative differences. In August 2023, Kavin replaced Kalyan as the lead, with producers B. V. S. N. Prasad and Rise East Entertainment joining the production.
