Superboys Of Malegaon: Zoya Akhtar and Reema Katgi's highly regarded movie, Superboys of Malegaon, has opened to favorable reviews in India. The 2012 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, which tells the story of Nasir Shaikh and a few cinema enthusiasts who create their own movie business with the fewest resources possible, served as its inspiration.

Superboys of Malegaon's plot centers on a group of regular boys with lofty aspirations. However, the brothers set out on a path to greatness after an unforeseen circumstance changes their lives. The movie stars Anuj Singh Duhan, Vineet Kumar Singh, Shashank Arora and Adarsh Gourav. 

Superboys of Malegaon looks at friendship, teamwork and the creative process. Adarsh Gourav plays the title role of Nasir Shaikh while Shashank Arora portrays his friend Shafique Shaikh. For the unversed, Malegaon is a city in Nashik, Maharashtra situated on the banks of the Girna River. The city is well-known for its loom industry.

Who Are Superboys of Malegaon Based On?

The real story of self-made man Nasir Shaikh served as the inspiration for Superboys of Malegaon. Varun Grover, the lyricist and writer for the movie, met Nasir and his coworker Farogh in 2012, just after the documentary Supermen of Malegaon came out.

Nasir Shaikh began his profession as a videographer for weddings. His desire to make his own movie pushed him to pursue this line of work, but he was having financial difficulties after failing at it. He described movies as a way to escape from daily hardships and praised Malegaon's video parlors, which show Bollywood classics on big TV screens for a fraction of the price of a movie theater.

Nasir Shaikh would parody Hollywood and Bollywood movies like Malegaon Ke Sholay and Yeh Hai Malegaon Ka Superman, a caped superhero fighting tobacco that causes cancer, helped Nasir become well-known. In order to finance his films for Malegaon, Nasir raised money from friends and invested his savings. He began to receive recognition for his work, and his endeavors gave rise to 'Mollywood.' Nasir Shaikh was a 'unemployed cinema buff,' and in the mid-2000s, his struggle to make ends meet led him to create films for his neighborhood. "I decided to make a movie with cheap rented cameras, innovative production hacks, and a crew of equally enthusiastic film fanatics," he told the AFP.
