Television actress Krissann Barretto, who gained recognition for her role in the popular soap opera Sasural Simar Ka, has recently shared a heart-wrenching account of the overwhelming emotional and professional backlash she faced after speaking out about her close friend, the late Sushant Singh Rajput. In a candid conversation on Shardul Pandit's podcast, Uncensored with Shardul, the 33-year-old actress revealed the devastating consequences she encountered after choosing to publicly pay tribute to Sushant following his untimely passing.

Krissann disclosed that she was not only subjected to intense backlash and criticism but was also inexplicably denied work opportunities by certain production houses, ostensibly as a result of her decision to speak out about her friend.

Krissann said, “In India, if you are an actor, you can’t grieve. If your friend passes away, people assume you’re posting for attention. Just because you’re in front of a camera, they think you’re performing. There’s no room for genuine emotion.”

She acknowledged that there were risks involved in sharing her thoughts and feelings, stating that many people were hesitant to speak out due to the potential consequences. Krissann confessed that she personally faced significant backlash, including risking her career and even her personal life, with her parents also expressing anger over her decision to speak out.

“No one is so foolish as to risk their life for attention. People don’t realize how many doors get closed on you when you take a stand like this. It’s happened to me. I was denied work,” she went on to state.

Krissann continued, “I lost a lot and gained nothing. I did it for my friend, not for fame. I don’t care what I lose. Even my friends told me to stop. They’d call and say, ‘Mat baat karo.’ But I couldn’t stay silent.”

Krissann Barretto's emotional account comes amid the CBI's recent closure report on Sushant Singh Rajput's case, ruling out foul play and clearing Rhea Chakraborty of charges. Despite facing backlash, Krissann has no regrets, prioritizing loyalty to her friend over public opinion and industry consequences.
