Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey are back with the sequel of Haseen Dillruba with Sunny Kaushal. Directed by Jayprad Desai and written by Kanika Dhillon, the movie has been titled Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillbura. Taapsee will be reprising the role of Rani, who has an obsession with Hindi mystery thriller books. Talking about her character in the film, the actress described it and stated that she makes a lot of wrong decisions but she owns up to her mistakes and pays the price for it. Taapsee believes that Rani is not a toxic character and says that she is proud to play her.
In an interview with News18, Taapsee said “Just because you feel that she’s toxic? (laughs). The definition of ‘alpha’ is becoming a little warped. People have started associating some kind of glorification with this word. I haven’t viewed Rani as an alpha. I view her as someone who doesn’t always make the right decisions but also owns up to her mistakes and is ready to pay the price for that. She never tried to portray her flaws with a heroic colour. One may call her alpha or sigma but I don’t think she’s a toxic protagonist. That’s why I’m very happy and proud that I played her and I don’t regret it. People who are viewing her from a myopic lens should change their lens right away.”
Jayprad Desai’s directorial also casts Jimmy Shergill, Vivek Jha and Gautam S Gadaballi in key roles. The movie is scheduled to be released on popular OTT platform Netflix on 9th August. The story is expected to delve into how Rani (Taapsee Pannu) and Rishu (Vikrant Massey) ran together from their hometown while escaping from the police. But when their plans do not go as per them, Rani chooses to get help from an admirer (Sunny Kaushal) of hers.
