Tamil filmmaker Suresh Sangaiah passed away on November 15, 2024. The director took his last breath around 11 PM at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Chennai. He was suffering from Jaundice and had also battled with liver failure. Suresh was undergoing treatment. The filmmaker has been survived by his wife and two children. The news of his death was confirmed by cinematographer Saran whom he earlier worked with in the 2017 film Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu. 

Suresh Sangaiah made his directorial debut with the 2017 movie Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu. The movie features Vidharth, Raveena Ravi, Jayaraj Periyamayathevar, Hello Kandasamy, Krishnamoorthy and George Maryan in key roles. The film received positive responses from the audience and worked well at the box office. Suresh Sangaiah also worked in the 2023 Tamil comedy movie Sathiya Sothanai. The film features Swayam Siddha, Reshma Pasupuleti, Premgi Amaren and Ramya Pasupuleti in prominent roles. 

Notably, Sathiya Sothanai was wrapped up before the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie was postponed for 4 years before it was released in theatres in 2023. Sathiya Sothanai could not didn’t receive positive responses from the audience and the critics. 

Director Ramya Pasupuleti mourned the death of the director and wrote on X “Shocked and saddened to hear about @sureshsangaiah 's passing. I've always held #OruKidayinKarunaiManu as a precious film and now with a deeper significance.” People reacting to the same shared their condolences. A user said, “RIP, sir! One of the best movie Sathiya Sothanai.” A tweet read, “Art recognizes Art! So saddened to hear this news!. He's left his mark thru his art in Tamil Cinema.”Another user mentioned, “Such a sad news. Really enjoyed Kidayin Karunai manu movie. Watched that movie back to back many times. Was looking forward to his next. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to his family and friends..”
