Telugu actress Rekha Boj caused quite a stir on social media by making a bold pledge concerning the Indian cricket team and the ODI World Cup. Her promise to run nude on Visakhapatnam beach if India secured victory in the tournament thrust her into the spotlight with people mocking and trolling her. In her tweet, Rekha declared, "If India wins the World Cup, I will streak on Visakhapatnam beach. India World Cup."

Now, following India's loss to Australia in the final match, Rekha faced a wave of criticism and trolling on social media. Memes and posts mocking her flooded various platforms, some hilariously showcasing empty Visakhapatnam beaches in jest of her unkept promise, while some compared her to Poonam Pandey. Several others also blamed her for the team's defeat and called her statement a failed publicity stunt. A user said, "Poonam Pandey did the same stunt during 2011 #CricketWorldCup. Though she became famous, it didn’t bring her any success at the box office. Better to Improve acting skills than pursuing cheap publicity!"

Another added, "Madam Garu don't even think of trying, all the people on the beach will run away." Third comment read, "Another Poonam Pandey…Absolute nonsense."

After India lost the match, Rekha defended her initial statement, emphasising that it was an expression of her love and support for the Indian cricket team. She clarified that her intention wasn't to cause any harm or disrespect. Despite the negative reactions, she highlighted the overwhelming support she received from fans of various teams who were praying for India’s success. On Instagram, she expressed her disappointment, acknowledging that her statement paled in significance compared to the importance of India's victory. "My Statement is nothing in front of India’s Victory…feeling heartbroken," she wrote.
