Directed by Chandoo Mondeti and produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts, Thandel is based on a real-life incident. The film follows a group of fishermen from Srikakulam who unknowingly cross into Pakistani waters while on a fishing trip to Gujarat, leading to an intense and emotional journey. Alongside Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, the movie features talented actors like Prakash Belawadi, Aadukalam Naren, Karunakaran and Kalpalatha in key roles.

Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics, Thandel performed well at the box office. According to reports, the film grossed Rs 88.25 crore worldwide, with Rs 65.49 crore coming from the domestic market. However, the makers claim that it crossed the ₹100 crore mark globally, making it a major milestone in Naga Chaitanya’s career. This success is particularly significant as his previous films, Thank You and Custody, struggled at the box office.

Sai Pallavi is gearing up for her next big project, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where she will portray Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Ram. The much-anticipated mythological film is set to release in two parts, with the first instalment expected to hit theatres in 2026. Meanwhile, Naga Chaitanya has yet to announce his next project, keeping fans curious about his upcoming choices.
