To Get Her, South Korea’s first-ever lesbian dating reality series, continues to captivate audiences both at home and abroad. With episode 4 recently released, viewers are anticipating future episodes of this bold and emotional series. According to the official release schedule, episode 5 is set to be released Friday, 16 May on Wavve, a Korean streaming platform. For global viewers, it will also be accessible via Rakuten TV. Episode 6 will be released one week later, Friday, 23 May. Both episodes will be released at 04:00 AM KST (7:30 AM IST) giving international fans an early start.
To Get Her, filmed in scenic Jeju Island, follows seven openly lesbian women who are looking for real romantic connections. While it follows a similar format as traditional dating and relationship shows, To Get Her is notable in its representation of same-gender attraction. In a country where LGBTQ+ themes are still often considered taboo in mainstream media, the show has made waves for its inclusivity and its honest portrayal of women's emotional vulnerability.

However, the show’s journey has not been without controversy. After the airing of the show, one of the contestants, Kim Ri Won, became the object of criticism when online users claimed that she had not fully disclosed her past as an adult streamer, or broadcast jockey (BJ), a profession often linked to provocative content. Speculation also ensued about her sexual identity and relationship history, claiming that she had previously dated men and might be confusing viewers with her identity on the show.

Ri Won publicly addressed the issue, confirming she was a BJ and had heterosexual relationships. However, she strongly denied fabricating her sexual orientation to appear on To Get Her. She apologised for the controversy and shared her side in a long post on Instagram. Following the backlash, the show’s producers issued an official statement, announcing that Ri Won’s screen time would be reduced in the upcoming episodes to preserve the programme’s integrity. This decision drew mixed responses—some saw it as a fair move, while others criticised it as punitive.

Despite the controversy, To Get Her continues to trend across social media and online forums. As the countdown to episodes 5 and 6 continues, fans remain engaged not just for the romantic drama, but also for the social movement it is becoming with making LGBTQ+ visibility in South Korean entertainment and other venues.
