The Odisha train accident news shocked the entire nation where three trains collided with each other causing a scene of panic with tons of deaths in a row. Taking shots from these real-life incidents several Hollywood and Bollywood films have been created which are based on train accidents and will leave you with immense goosebumps.

From the Bollywood hit drama 'The Burning Train' to Chris Pine's intense train sequence 'Unstoppable' the moments and pressure showcased in these films from a worker's or a traveler's point and their struggles are captured perfectly. Let's take a look at some of them.

The Burning Train:

The 1980 released film 'The Burning Train' was directed by Ravi Chopra and starred Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jeetendra, Danny, and Parveen Bobby in lead roles. The story revolves around a moving train that accidentally catches fire with failed brakes, where thousands of lives are put at stake with the struggles of each individual captured properly and with a trail of twists and turns in the motion.

Unstoppable:

The 2010 American disaster action film was directed by Tony Scott and starred Chris Pine and Denzel Washington in lead roles and is based on the real-life CSX 8888 incident which tells the story of a runaway train with two men attempting to stop it from crashing. The film marked the last film of Tony Scott as the filmmaker passed away in 2012.

Disaster On The Coastliner:

This 1979 release was a television action drama film which was directed by Richard C Sarafian and had an ensemble cast of Lloyd Bridges, Raymond Burr, Robert Fuller, Pat Hingle, E.G. Marshall, William Shatner, and Paul L. Smith. The film originally aired on Sunday Night Movie on October 28, 1979, and was based on a disgruntled railway employee attempting to cause a collision between two huge passenger trains.

Runaway Train:

This Jon Voight film was released in 1985 and was directed by Andrei Konchalovsky who co-starred Eric Roberts, Rebecca De Mornay, and John P. Ryan in lead roles. The plot of the film revolves around two escaped convicts and a female assistant locomotive driver who are unfortunately stuck on a runaway train going through snowy Alaska. The film received positive reviews from critics.

D-Railed:

Released in 2019 and available on Amazon Prime Video, a train derails into a lake in the middle of the night where the passengers are trapped inside the sinking vessel unaware of the fact that another far worse predator waits for them determined to kill all one by one. The intense thriller was hailed by critics for its suspense and was a hit on OTT.
