Trisha Krishnan is one of the most popular and versatile actresses in the South Indian film industry. She has made a name for herself all over India with her stellar performance. She recently impressed the audience with her acting in 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' which is successfully running in theatres. In the film, Trisha plays the role of Kundavai. She recently revealed that she wanted to play the role of Nandini but director Mani Ratnam refused.

In an interview with News18, Trisha said that she loves Nandini and wanted to play her. “I love Nandini, personally as well. I would have loved to play her. In fact, I even told Mani (Ratnam) sir, on day one when I went to his office, for which he said ‘no, that’s the first thing we already signed and it’s done, only Aishwarya can do that,’ and I was totally okay with it,” she said.

Meanwhile, the movie has already collected more than Rs 100 crore at the box office in India. According to the website sacnilk, the movie collected Rs 8 crore approximately on Day 6 s per the early estimates. Its total box office collection in India now stands at Rs 122.25 crore.

'Ponniyin Selvan 1' was more successful in South India than North India, and at an event, Karthi talked about why 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' did not do well in North India as compared to KGF, Kantara and RRR.

"I think they (the audience in the North) found it a bit difficult to understand. That’s what I felt initially. When you are reading a novel, you will forget the names by the time you get to the tenth page. Similarly, here too they had that problem. However, when the film was released on OTT, they were able to get it. So, they will be able to better understand the film when the second part comes. However, the film was praised for its aesthetics," he said as quoted by Pinkvilla.

The franchise 'Ponniyin Selvan' is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name. The movie also stars Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R. Parthiban.
