Tamil cinema knows how to explore different genres and unique themes in their movies and web series and has also received a good response from the audience on these projects. After finding success in theatres, the Tamil film industry has also ventured into the OTT space. Several Tamil films and web series found a big audience nationwide due to the streaming platforms which led to an increase in their popularity. Take a look at the list of Tamil movies and shows releasing on OTT platforms in the rest of 2023.
1. Mathagam Part 2
'Mathagam Part 2' revolves around a sincere IPS officer, who takes on a crime syndicate led by an evil mastermind. The web series will release on Disney+ Hotstar on October 12, 2023. It stars Atharvaa and K Manikandan in the lead roles with Gautham Vasudev Menon, Nikhila Vimal, Dhivyadharshini, Dilnaz Irani, Ilavarasu, Vadivukkarasi, Aruvi Thirunavukkarasu, Munnar Ramesh, Sharath Ravi, Rishikanth, Murali Abbas and Scissor Manohar in pivotal roles.
2. Chandramukhi 2
'Chandramukhi 2' is a sequel to the hit 2005 film 'Chandramukhi' and revolves around a wealthy family who faces several problems and unintentionally awakens the feud between classical dancer Chandramukhi and Vettaiyan Raja from centuries ago after doing a prayer to a deity. According to reports, the OTT rights of 'Chandramukhi 2' have been bought by Netflix for Rs 8 crore. The movie stars Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut in the lead roles with Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahima Nambiar, Srushti Dange, Rao Ramesh and Subiksha Krishnan in pivotal roles. Vadivelu reprised his role of Murugesan from the previous instalment.
3. Mark Antony
'Mark Antony' revolves around Mark, who finds a telephone with the power to manipulate time. He tries to change history and bring back his father Antony alive after finding the telephone. It stars Vishal and SJ Suryah in the lead roles with Ritu Varma, Selvaraghavan, Sunil and Abhinaya in pivotal roles. The movie will be released on Amazon Prime Video on October 13.
4. Leo
'Leo' stars Thalapathy Vijay in the lead roles with Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Priya Anand, Arjun and Mansoor Ali Khan in pivotal roles. As per reports, Netflix has bagged the OTT rights of 'Leo' for a whopping Rs 125 crore. 'Leo' will be the third instalment of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Cinematic Universe aka LCU. Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' and Karthi's 'Kaithi' are also part of LCU.
5. Iraivan
'Iraivan' stars Nayanthara and Jayam Ravi in the lead roles with Rahul Bose, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Naren in pivotal roles. According to a report by OTTplay, the OTT rights of 'Iraivan' have been bought by Netflix and the movie is expected to release on OTT a month after its theatrical run.
