Urvashi Rautela, who made several appearances on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, has been recently grabbing headlines for her fashion choices at the renowned event. Her first look at Cannes 2023 featured a stunning pink gown complemented by a remarkable necklace from Cartier, designed in the shape of interwoven crocodiles. Urvashi has now addressed those who have made 'bizarre comments' regarding her necklace.
Urvashi's selection of jewellery was mocked by certain people on social media platforms. On Instagram, some users jokingly remarked that the actress had adorned lizards around her neck. Additionally, several reports indicated that the designer necklace was valued at an astonishing Rs 200 crore. The necklace, made of gold and adorned with diamonds and emeralds, showcases intricate craftsmanship.
During an interview with Brut India, Urvashi expressed her thoughts on the matter, stating, "People, who don't have the right information, those are the people who are writing bizarre comments about it (her necklace). But people, who know about the history of that jewellery, it is such an iconic piece, they will absolutely fall in love with the crocodile neckpiece. Actually, it is a very iconic piece... You actually have to read about it, it is very historic. In fact, I wasn't aware of this, but I got to know that it was worn by Monica Bellucci back in 2006 at Cannes. I had absolutely no idea about it."

Crafted by the renowned French brand Cartier, the crocodile necklace stands as a legendary masterpiece in the realm of high jewellery. Commissioned in 1975, this exquisite creation showcases two intricately designed crocodiles. According to Forbes' 2018 report, one of the crocodiles is fashioned from 18-karat yellow gold, adorned with over 1,000 brilliant-cut fancy intense yellow diamonds, weighing approximately 60.02 carats. The other crocodile is sculpted from 18-karat white gold, embellished with 1,060 emeralds totaling 66.86 carats.
In addition to Urvashi, Italian actress Monica Bellucci has also adorned Cartier's crocodile necklaces. She had the privilege of wearing these remarkable pieces at the Cannes Film Festival on two separate occasions. Monica first showcased the original crocodile necklace from 1975 at Cannes in 2006, and then later at Cannes in 2019, she was spotted wearing another version of the captivating crocodile necklace.
Urvashi Rautela's most recent appearance was in the film Agent alongside Akhil Akkineni. She is set to star in an upcoming Hollywood film alongside actor Michele Morrone. Additionally, she has Inspector Avinash lined up, where she will be sharing the screen with Randeep Hooda.
