As reported by Manorama Online, Komala Menon was receiving treatment for heart-related issues at a hospital in Parassala. Neyyattinkara Komalam starred as the heroine in the legendary Prem Nazir's debut film, 'Marumakal,' which was released in 1952. Komalam made her acting debut in the 1951 film Vanamala, directed by G. Viswanath. This film is notable for being the first jungle movie in Malayalam, heavily influenced by Edgar Rice Burroughs' 'Tarzan,' and it achieved commercial success.
She also played a significant role in the 1955 film 'Newspaper Boy,' directed by P. Ramdas, where she portrayed Kalyani Amma. This film is recognized as the first neo-realistic work in Mollywood, focusing on the life of an ordinary man. Additionally, Komalam had a key role in 'Aathmasanthi.' Although her film career spanned just four years (1951 to 1955) due to family and societal opposition, she left an indelible mark on the Malayalam film industry.
Throughout her career, she was known for her versatile acting skills and memorable performances in various films. Komalam's personal life included a marriage to M Chandrasekhara Menon, who passed away several years prior. In her later years, she lived with relatives due to age-related health challenges.
