Vivian Dsena rose to fame and became a fan favourite with his acting in shows like Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahani, Madhubala and Shakti. Now, his participation in the reality show Bigg Boss 18 has captured everyone’s attention. More than his gameplay, Dsena’s personal life has drawn the most spotlight in the house.
Vivian, born into a Christian family, converted to Islam and then married his second wife, Nouran Aly. His conversion sparked a lot of trolling. According to his wife, the duo faced a great deal of hatred on social media when they got married in 2022. She also revealed how people blamed her for Vivian's conversion to Islam and labeled it "love jihad".
In an interview with Galatta India, Nouran said, "I did face trolling on the internet that I converted Vivian to Islam. People called it love jihad and all those things. Vivian too received hate on social media. It also affected his work pattern."
Vivian Dsena was previously married to his Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahani co-star Vahbiz Dorabjee but they decided to part ways a few years later in 2021. Then, in 2022, he fell in love with Nouran Aly and they eventually got married.
Before their marriage, Nouran clarified to Vivian that, according to her religion, she could not engage in an interfaith marriage, as it was not accepted. She also respected the fact that he could not change for her.
“I am not going to judge this, but sometimes it also works against you. We have a lot of differences in terms of beliefs, language, etc. But I told him that in my society, in my religion, I cannot go and do an interfaith marriage, because it’s not at all accepted in my side of the world, and I respect that. At the same time, I also respect that one will not change for me," she stated.
Further clarifying on Vivian's conversion to Islam, Nouran continued, “Just to clarify, he was not Hindu, he was Christian. Christianity and Islam are both Abrahamic religions, so they have the same core. But in my religion, women don’t convert."
In the same interview, Nouran also spoke about how she initially tried to stay away from Vivian due to their different backgrounds.
“I actually stayed away for six months because I was very worried and scared that he would do this for me. I knew he would not be spared by society if he converted for a woman, and I too wouldn’t be spared. I thought it may also create regret in his heart later if he did it for a woman and the woman didn’t turn out to be as per his expectations in the marriage. Hence, I stayed away for six months and did not respond to his calls and messages," she continued.
Vivian's wife stated how he converted to Islam for himself. “But then I got to know from a mutual friend that he was studying my religion, for himself, not for me. I had zero interference in this. He studied, he read, he went around and asked people, and after six months, he told my friends that he wanted to talk to me because he was ready to do it for himself, not for me. Even if I had decided not to be with him, he would have converted anyway because he was doing it for himself," Nouran added.
