Thangalaan OTT Release Delayed: Thangalaan hit the theatres worldwide on August 15, 2024, coinciding with India's Independence Day, in standard, 3D, and EPIQ formats. Despite garnering mixed reviews from critics, the film's strong points shone through, including impressive performances from Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Daniel Caltagirone. However, critics took issue with the film's historical inaccuracies, subpar visual effects, and writing, preventing it from achieving universal acclaim. Despite mixed reviews, the audience awaits the movie’s OTT debut.
Thangalaan OTT Release
Despite Netflix acquiring the digital streaming rights, Thangalaan's highly-anticipated OTT release has been shrouded in uncertainty. Initial reports hinted at a Diwali premiere on October 31, but the film failed to materialise on the platform on that date. As a result, the Tamil movie's streaming timeline remains up in the air, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official update on when they can catch it on Netflix.
Why is Thangalaan OTT release delayed?
Producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja faces legal issues as Reliance Entertainment has filed a case against him in the Chennai High Court over an outstanding loan for films, including Teddy and Thangalaan. Despite partial repayment, Reliance seeks to block the release of Kanguva and delay Thangalaan's OTT release until dues are settled. However, reports suggest Thangalaan may still debut on Netflix in November 2024.
