Dhurandhar does not hesitate to depict the murderous reign of the most infamous gangsters in Lyari. Actor Danish Pandor plays Uzair Baloch, whose name used to throw a long and terrible shadow over Karachi, while Akshaye Khanna plays the merciless Rehman Dakait. The movie inspired by real events starred Ranveer Singh in the lead role while R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun played key parts.

Uzair Baloch's character played by Danish Pandor has quite often potrayed such dark and complex characters. He starred in a number of movies and web series, including Chhaava, Sacred Games, 36 Days, 1920: Horrors of the Heart, Agent Raghav, and Kitani Mohabbat Hai.

Who Is Karachi Gangster Uzair Baloch?

Uzair Baloch, the son of transporter Faiz Muhammad, was born in Lyari, Karachi, on January 11, 1970. He began his political career independently. However, everything changed for him in 2003 when he lost his father, who was brutally killed by Arshad Pappu, the son of Haji Lalu, the drug kingpin of Lyari. Then, seeking retribution for the death of his father, he joined his cousin, Rehman Dakait's gang. At the nexus of crime, politics, intelligence, and terror, where few individuals possessed such rampant power, Uzair Baloch's notoriety rose.

According to BBC investigations, Uzair Baloch is thought to have personally committed or ordered up to 200 murders between 2008 and 2013 alone.

Uzair Baloch's Deadly Crimes

Uzair Baloch was charged with supplying Iranian officers intelligence secrets, killing more than 150 police officers and paramilitary members, killing businessmen who refused ransom demands, stockpiling machine guns, rocket launchers, and other cutting-edge weapons, exercising such power that he allegedly dictated police postings, amassing crores through corruption in the Sindh fisheries, and carrying out acts of vengeance so horrible that, according to local legend, he occasionally had rivals abducted in police cars and used their severed heads to play football.

Where Is Uzair Baloch Now?

Uzair Baloch was given a 12-year term in Karachi's Central Jail in 2020. According to later reports, he used strong connections to get bail. Legal experts, however, think that he might stay behind bars until his military court sentence is completed, even if he is found not guilty in all criminal matters.
