Bobby Deol has made an impressive mark not only in the Aashram series but also with his portrayal of a negative role in the movie Animal, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. His role has become one of the most unconventional depictions of a villain in cinema. Bobby's character, Abrar Haque, who is hearing- and speech-impaired, received widespread critical acclaim. Speaking about this, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared his ideas and the decision behind crafting such a character.

Bobby Deol's Character in Animal

Sandeep Reddy Vanga explained Bobby Deol's character in the blockbuster movie Animal. In a conversation with Komal Nahta, he discussed it, saying, "We have seen a lot of films where the hero and villain pick up the phone and abuse each other, or there is some sort of dialogue-baazi throughout the film." In the movie, Bobby's character enters the frame much later, after the first half, which focuses on developing Ranbir Kapoor's character. His entry song, Jamal Kudu, becomes a highlight.

Sandeep added, "Since we have seen a lot of such exchanges in our films, I just thought of sketching him as a mute and deaf person. The very idea of a deaf-and-mute person fighting in the climax was such an exciting idea."

About Animal

The action-drama movie starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol was released in December 2023. Despite facing criticism for its violence and misogynistic narrative, Animal became a major hit at the box office, grossing around Rs 915 crore. The film revolves around Ranvijay Singh (played by Ranbir), the son of an influential industrialist, and his troubled relationship with his father (Anil Kapoor), which takes a drastic turn when he embarks on a path of revenge and destruction following an assassination attempt on Anil Kapoor's character.
