Bobby Deol, in a recent interview, revealed that Imtiaz Ali replaced him in Jab We Met and cast Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor instead. Amid this, the filmmaker’s old video is doing rounds on Reddit in which he revealed the real reason behind not casting Bobby Deol in Jab We Met. In a conversation with The Lallantop, Imtiaz Ali said, “Jab We Met ko Bobby Deol ke saath banane ka plan kar raha tha. Start kari picture but usko kuch aur offers mil rahe the, kuch bade directors ke saath. Toh voh wait kar raha tha. Keh raha tha ki iske baad kar lenge, uske baad kar lenge. Toh, karte karte ek aisa waqt aagaya jo mujhe laga ki ab yeh theek nahi lag raha.”

“Bohot waqt beet chuka hai kyuki vaise bhi, 5 saal tak maine ek hi film ki hai. Uske baad bhi ek do saal tak main kuch nahi kar raha tha. Toh matlab financially and even in life, you want to do things. Toh maine bola Bobby yeh film nahi banate hain. Let us decide this today. Let us shake our hands ki film nahi banate kyuki humara ek doosre ke saath sahi nahi rahega,” he further added.

Bobby has been wailing about his alleged replacement from Jab We Met since 2017 when he began his comeback to the industry. He probably has no other interesting stories to tell.

In a conversation with Instant Bollywood, Bobby Deol had said, “I saw its rush print. I caught Imtiaz and said, 'Look, your film hasn't been released yet; it's only halfway done. I'm working with you, so write the script.' So, he started writing the script for me. I tried really hard to make that film (Jab We Met) happen; I reached out to a lot of people.”

He further noted, “The industry is such that the producer to whom I had suggested that he take Imtiaz ended up taking him. Meanwhile, they kicked me out and got Kareena and Shahid instead. About Jab We Met: Jab We Met was released in theatres in 2007. The movie garnered widespread attention and was among the top-grossing Hindi movies of the year. Jab We Met received several accolades. Including Best Female Playback Singer for Shreya Ghoshal and Best Choreography for Saroj Khan, both for the song Yeh Ishq Hai. It received seven nominations and won two awards- Best actress for Kareena Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali won in Best Dialogues category.
