Zakir Hussain Death: Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain passed away at the age of 73 due to complications arising out of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, as per a report by PTI. He took his last breath at a hospital in San Francisco on December 15. The report further suggested that he was hospitalised for the last two weeks due to deteriorating health issues. Several Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh have mourned the death of the legendary musicians.
Amitabh Bachchan wrote on X, “T 5224 - .. a very sad day ..” He also wrote in a blog, “A genius .. an unmatched maestro ..an immeasurable loss ..Zakir Hussain ..has left us.”

Kareena Kapoor shared a picture with Zakir and Randhir Kapoor. She wrote on Instagram stories, “Maestro Forever.” Malaika Arora shared a picture of the musician and wrote “Legend RIP.” Sonali Bendre and Ranveer Singh also paid tribute to Zakir Hussain.
Akshay Kumar also tweeted, “Very pained to know about the sad demise of Ustad Zakir Hussain Saab. He was truly a treasure for our country’s musical heritage. Om Shanti.”

Kamal Haasan wrote on X, “Zakir Bhai ! He left too soon. Yet we are grateful for the times he gave us and what he left behind in the form of his art. Goodbye and Thank you. #ZakirHussain.”

Zakir Hussain is survived by his wife Antonia Minnecola and his daughters Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi. As per a report by Hindustan Times, the family said in a statement “His prolific work as a teacher, mentor and educator has left an indelible mark on countless musicians. He hoped to inspire the next generation to go further. He leaves behind an unparalleled legacy as a cultural ambassador and one of the greatest musicians of all time. The family requests privacy at this time.”
