Zubeen Garg Death Case: In a fresh update in the Assamese Singer Zubeen Garg's death case, new details have emerged as five people, who have been arrested in connection with the death of the singer in Singapore last month, have been sent to judicial custody after their police remand ended on Wednesday, October 15. The accused include North East India Festival (NEIF) chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Zubeen's manager Siddhartha Sharma, his cousin and police officer Sandipan Garg and his personal security officers (PSOs) Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya, who were remanded to judicial custody by the Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate. Following this decision, fans of the late singer have staged protests.

According to a PTI report, the court expressed concern for the safety of the accused and directed that they be sent to a jail where there were fewer prisoners.

An official stated, "Accordingly, the authorities decided to shift all five accused to Baksa Jail at Mussalpur, which was inaugurated two months ago, and there are still no prisoners."

After five people were transferred to the newly constructed prison after the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) order, a massive protest broke out in Assam's Baksa district.

The situation outside the Baksa district jail in Mushalpur grew tense as Garg's fans began throwing stones targeting the vehicles carrying the accused to the jail. A large number of people gathered to demand justice for the late singer.

Mahanta and Sharma were arrested on October 1 in New Delhi in connection with the singer's death in Singapore in September and were booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy and causing death by negligence, and were later charged with murder. They were given police custody for 14 days, which ended on Tuesday.
