The Gurugram Municipal Corporation is set to purchase anti-smog guns to combat air pollution in Cyber City, part of a wide-ranging set of development projects approved on Friday. A total of 16 proposals, including new roads, sewer lines, and community facilities, were given the green light at a meeting of the Finance and Contract Committee.

Gurugram to Deploy Anti-Smog Guns In a major move to tackle smog, especially that caused by stubble burning, the corporation approved a budget of Rs 4.85 crore to purchase truck-mounted sprinkler-cum-anti-smog gun machines. The funds will come from a grant provided by the Pollution Control Board.

To further improve sanitation, a decision was also made to purchase two 16-tonne capacity recycle super sucker machines at a cost of approximately Rs 10 crore, which includes their operation and maintenance.

Major Infrastructure Upgrades Approved The meeting, chaired by Mayor Rajrani Malhotra, sanctioned numerous infrastructure projects across the city. Key approvals include:

Roads:

- Rs 5.08 crore to develop the Bajghera peripheral road into a model road.

- Rs 3.29 crore for a 33-foot wide road from near Heritage School to Baliyawas village.

- Rs 2.79 crore for a new road in Mayfield Garden.

Sewer and Water Lines:

- Rs 8.02 crore for strengthening the old 900 mm sewer line from the petrol pump to Dhanwapur Chowk.

- Rs 5.68 crore for laying interlocking tiles and a water pipeline from Sohna Road to Naya Gaon.

- Significant funds were also approved for new sewer and water lines in Wazirabad, South City-2, Mianwali Colony, and Wards 15 and 56.

New Community Facilities

The committee also approved the construction of new facilities for residents and community welfare:

A cow shelter (gaushala) will be built in Baliyawas village at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

A community centre is set to be constructed in Nathupur village for approximately Rs 9.45 crore.
