The Gurugram police have successfully arrested Sandeep alias Lathia, a notorious criminal and proclaimed offender, following a raid in Delhi on Monday night. Originally a resident of Lath village in Sonipat district, Sandeep was apprehended by a team from the Sector 17 by 18 police station using technical surveillance.
Authorities expect his arrest to lead to the resolution of multiple pending cases.
Criminal Profile And History
Sandeep alias Lathia has a significant criminal record with 11 cases registered against him across various districts in Delhi and Haryana. His charges include murder, attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity, and violations of the Arms Act.
According to the police spokesperson, cases have been registered against him at the following police stations:
Haryana: Sonipat, Murthal, Rohtak, Jind, Lakhanmajra, and Bhiwani.
Delhi: Lodhi Road.
Background: The December 2022 Incident
Sandeep had been sought by authorities specifically regarding an incident that occurred on December 18, 2022.
The Incident: Sandeep and his associates were loitering near the community centre in Sukhrali, Gurugram, with the intent to execute a major crime.
Police Action: The police cordoned off the area to apprehend the group. While three associates were arrested, Sandeep managed to take advantage of the situation and flee.
Recovery: At the time, police recovered six pistols and a large quantity of cartridges from his captured associates.
Legal Status: A case was registered under the Arms Act and other relevant sections at the Sector 17 by 18 police station. Following his escape, the Gurugram district court declared him a proclaimed offender.

Arrest And Next Steps
Following the 2022 incident, police conducted continuous raids to locate the fugitive. On Monday, technical surveillance traced his location to Delhi, leading to his arrest.
Interrogation: Preliminary questioning revealed that Sandeep had been hiding in various districts of Delhi and Haryana while absconding.
Legal Proceedings: The accused will be produced in court where the police will seek remand.
Investigation Focus: During remand, investigators plan to question him regarding his absconding associates and the supply chain used to procure weapons.
