The Haryana government has announced plans to construct the country’s most advanced bus terminal in Cyber City, Gurugram, under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The terminal will feature world-class facilities befitting Cyber City’s global status.
Speaking to Dainik Jagran during his visit to their office on Sunday, Minister for Transport, Power, Labour and Employment Anil Vij emphasised the need for top-notch infrastructure in the city, which is home to multinational offices and residents from around the world. “Cyber City has become the top choice for investors globally. Infrastructure here must match its international reputation,” he said.
The government is currently collecting data on other bus terminals built on a PPP model across India to determine the facilities they offer. Work on the new terminal will commence once all information is gathered.
Adequate land for the project is available in Sihi village, near the Dwarka Expressway. In the meantime, instructions have been issued to maintain essential services at the existing bus stand to ensure no inconvenience to the public.
Minister Vij highlighted that strict regulations will be put in place to ensure continued government oversight of the terminal, even after construction under the PPP model. “Often, companies operate arbitrarily post-construction, ignoring public concerns. A portion of the revenue will also go to the government,” he added.
In addition to transport improvements, efforts are underway to strengthen the city’s power infrastructure. Underground power line projects in most areas of Cyber City and Manesar are progressing rapidly. The move is expected to reduce faults, though occasional disruptions may still occur during heavy rain or storms. Following the completion of projects in Gurugram and Manesar, similar initiatives are planned for Sonipat and Jhajjar.
Vij also directed the relocation of power lines running over gas pipelines in Gurugram, following a gas pipeline fire two months ago that disrupted several feeders. He assured residents that electricity billing discrepancies have largely been resolved and that officials have been instructed to provide timely, permanent solutions to complaints without making citizens run from pillar to post.
