As part of the International Gita Mahotsav, a historic Global Gita Path was held on Monday at Keshav Park in Dharmakshetra-Kurukshetra, where 21,000 children recited verses from the Bhagavad Gita in unison. The grand spectacle filled the atmosphere with devotion and spirituality, embodying the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the ceremony and announced a special holiday on Tuesday for all participating students. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj were also present.

Extending greetings on Gita Jayanti, the Chief Minister said that on this sacred date “5,163 years ago, Lord Krishna imparted the divine message of the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.” He said the sky resonated with the Ashtadashi verses recited by 21,000 students, noting that similar recitations were held across India and abroad. He added that chanting the Gita has scientific value as the sound waves of Vedic mantras “bring peace to the mind and brain, instil moral values… and energise the individual.”

He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gita Jayanti has become a global celebration. Recalling the Prime Minister’s gesture of gifting “The Gita According to Gandhi” to former US President Barack Obama in 2014, he said this sparked international observance from 2016 onward. He also noted the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Kurukshetra to inaugurate the Mahabharata-themed Anubhav Kendra.

The Chief Minister said the teaching of “Karmanye Vadhikaraste” guides individuals toward duty and balance in life. He emphasised that the Gita offers answers to all human dilemmas and that its regular recitation removes negativity and fosters harmony.

Swami Gyananand Maharaj underlined that the Gita provides solutions to every challenge, while Baba Ramdev said it illuminates the path to “heritage, development, knowledge, and even modern science.” Both stressed instilling Gita values in the younger generation.
