The Gurugram Traffic Police has seized a car that was running without a High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP). Instead, the car's rear number plate had the word 'Delicious' written in English. Upon inspection, it was also discovered that the car had 22 pending traffic tickets (challans) totaling Rs 45,000. When the driver failed to pay the fine, the traffic police seized the vehicle on Tuesday for further action.

Under the direction of ACP Traffic Dr Mohan, the Gurugram Police is running a special campaign against vehicle owners who have outstanding challans for more than 90 days. Such vehicles are either being declared as defaulters or are being seized.

As part of this campaign on Tuesday, Zonal Officer Sub-Inspector Vijay and Constable Ram Mehar, who were on duty at Kushal Chowk, stopped a Volkswagen Taigun for inspection. During the check, they found that the word 'Delicious' was written on the rear number plate and it did not have the mandatory HSRP plate.

An online check revealed 22 pending challans against the vehicle. These included 15 for over speeding, one for jumping a red light, one for driving on the wrong side, and other traffic violations. The total fine amount was found to be Rs 45,000.

When the driver was unable to pay the fine on the spot, the traffic police immediately seized the vehicle under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and took it to the police yard in Sector 29.

ACP Traffic Dr Mohan said, "All vehicle owners must install HSRP number plates on their vehicles. Do not drive a vehicle without an HSRP plate. If proper number plates are used, it helps the police in inspections and in catching criminal or anti-social elements. Furthermore, if any vehicle is found without an HSRP number plate, a fine will be imposed."
