Independence Day 2025 Celebration Live Update: India is celebrating its 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 15, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to unfurl the national flag of India and address the nation from the Red Fort. The theme of this year’s celebration is Naya Bharat, as India is striving towards realising the Government’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The Celebration is scheduled to begin at 7:30 am onwards on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the ceremony.
Upon his arrival, PM will be received by the Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh. The Defence Secretary will introduce the General Officer Commanding (GoC), Delhi Area, Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will be taken to the Saluting Base where he'll receive a salute from the armed forces and the Delhi Police. After that, he'll inspect the Guard of Honour.
PM Modi will be hosting the flag for the 12th consecutive term.
