Adani Maharashtra Deal:  After Adani Group companies won a bid to supply 6,600 MW of renewable and thermal power to Maharashtra for 25 years, the main opposition party Congress alleged that it was a "rigged deal" made by the Mahayuti government, which it claimed was looking at a landslide defeat in the upcoming state assembly polls.

The award of the contract to Adani created several ripples through the political arena of the state, with the opposition claiming that the deal was made hastily just before the Maharashtra assembly polls as the ruling coalition of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP was looking at a potential defeat.

Adani Maharashtra Power Deal: 6600 MW @ Rs 4.08

Notably as per the Letter of Intent issued by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company, Adani Green Energy is set to supply 5,000 MW of solar power to the state from its renewable energy park in Khavda in Kutch district of Gujarat. Whereas the Adani Power will supply 1,600 MW of thermal power from a new plant, Reuters reported.

According to a PTI report, Adani Group has defeated the likes of JSW Energy and Torrent Power to get the long-term energy contract at a price of Rs 4.08 per unit.

Congress Attacks Mahayuti

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to the microblogging website X to slam the ruling coalition and termed the deal, 'a rigged one'.

"Even as the Mahayuti Government in Maharashtra totters towards a landslide defeat, this is what they choose to do with their last few days in power. Yet another Modani enterprise undoubtedly!"
"Shocking details of this rigged deal will soon start tumbling out," Ramesh said in X.
