Ahmedabad Air India Plane Crash: Nearly a month after the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) informed a parliamentary panel that a preliminary report on the incident will be submitted within this week. The update comes as the investigation nears the 30-day mark since the June 12 tragedy.

Sources told PTI that the report is still being compiled and no final conclusions have been drawn yet. The AAIB assured the panel that the aircraft's black box and cockpit voice recorder were recovered intact and are currently being analysed.

The AAIB briefed the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture that the preliminary findings although delayed are being prepared based on data retrieved from the flight’s black box and cockpit voice recorder. “The preliminary report will offer the first official insight into the cause of the crash,” a source familiar with the investigation said.

The ill-fated Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as Air India Flight AI-171, crashed on June 12 in Ahmedabad, leaving 241 people dead and only one survivor. The upcoming report is expected to outline probable causes and contributing factors to the deadly crash.

In the committee meeting, Members of Parliament expressed grave concerns over the current state of aviation safety in India. They also flagged the steep surge in airfares from Srinagar to other destinations following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), during its day-long meeting on aviation sector safety held Wednesday, questioned both government agencies and private carriers about the standards and protocols being followed.

As the nation awaits answers, the AAIB's preliminary report is expected to set the groundwork for more comprehensive findings in the final investigation report.
