Ahmedabad Airport Traffic Plan: With the aim of tackling persistent traffic congestion outside Terminal 2 (T2) of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, authorities have introduced a revised traffic circulation plan. The revised plan separates routes for arrival and departure passengers, improving traffic flow, especially during peak hours, following repeated complaints from passengers and drivers about long queues and delays.

New Traffic Circulation Plan At T2 Of Ahmedabad Airport

The updated traffic plan at T2 of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport aims to simplify vehicular movement and reduce congestion, Times of India reported. Key changes include:

- Separate Routes For Arrival And Departure: The revised plan distinguishes lanes for vehicles dropping off departing passengers and those picking up arrivals.

- U-Turn Exit for Drop-offs: Vehicles dropping off passengers will now make a U-turn in the same lane to exit directly, while all traffic continues to enter through the existing access point.

- Enhanced Guidance: Dedicated barricades and signage have been installed to help drivers navigate the revised circulation system smoothly.

- Arrival Pick-up Remain Unchanged: Vehicle picking up passengers from the arrivals area will continue to follow the existing exit route.

- Reduce Congestion at Exit: With the revised traffic plan, the traffic authorities aim to ease long-standing bottlenecks at the terminal exit, particularly during peak travel hours.

Time Limit And Charges For Vehicles

- Eight-Minute Time Limit: Vehicles entering the terminal are allowed a maximum of eight minutes for dropping off or picking up passengers.

- Parking Charges: Exceeding this time limit incurs fees, starting at Rs 150 for cars and Rs 50 for two-wheelers for the first 30 minutes, with rates increasing thereafter as per airport regulations.

- Restrictions: These restrictions help maintain smooth traffic flow and reduce unnecessary congestion at terminal gates.

Advisory For Travellers

The SVPI airport authorities, in an advisory, stated, “With development and capacity upgrades in progress near Terminal 2, we request passengers to follow the revised route map.”
