Ahmedabad Traffic Advisory: Ahmedabad Traffic Police have announced restrictions on vehicle movement on a key section of Ashram Road, starting November 9. The directive was announced by Ajaykumar Chaudhary, IPS, the in-charge Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad, under the powers granted by the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, specifically Section 33(1)(b) and (c). The public notice states the new rules which will come into effect from midnight today. The move comes in an effort to ease congestion and ensure better traffic management.
Ahmedabad Traffic Advisory: Restricted Routes
-Vehicles will no longer be allowed to travel on the stretch of road starting from Batrisi Bhavan up to Cargo Motors on Ashram Road. This section connects Subhash Bridge Circle to the Vadaj Crematorium via the Ashram Road.
The police have enforced this restriction to streamline traffic flow in the area, particularly on the busy Ashram Road.
-There are exceptions for local residents and visitors to the historic Sabarmati Ashram, who will be permitted to travel on the restricted route. The authorities have suggested alternative routes to ensure minimal inconvenience to commuters.
Ahmedabad Traffic Advisory: Alternative Routes
-For those travelling from Subhash Bridge Circle towards Vadaj, the recommended route is via the Prabodh Raval Circle. Commuters can proceed straight to the Ranip Bus Stand, take a left turn, and continue on the newly constructed road passing through Cargo Motors. They can then utilise the Sabarmati Riverfront Road (West) for a smooth journey to Vadaj.
-Vehicles heading from Subhash Bridge Circle to Prabodh Raval Circle can take a left turn at Palak Three Roads (Palak Teen Rasta) and continue towards Vadaj Circle.
-This new traffic regulation will be enforced under Section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951. Anyone found violating the order could face penalties under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and relevant sections of the Gujarat Police Act.
The new traffic guidelines were officially announced in the presence of senior officials, including Bhushan Gagrani, Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation; Election Inspector Narinder Singh Bali; Additional District Election Officer Rajendra Kshirsagar; and other dignitaries from the Ahmedabad Traffic Police.
