Ahmedabad Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Ahmedabad, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds till June 30. The city is expected to receive moderate showers daily over the next week (June 30), with occasional intense spells likely.

According to IMD data, Ahmedabad recorded around 0.08 inches of rainfall in the 24 hours ending Tuesday morning. The maximum temperature dipped to 30.9 degrees C  which is 7 degrees below normal while the minimum stood at 26 degrees C, 1.6 degrees C lower than average. So far this season, the city has received 6.03 inches of rain, nearly 4 inches above the normal level for this time of the year.

Surrounding areas such as Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, and regions in Saurashtra are under an orange alert due to the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has also been issued for Banaskantha, Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Botad, Diu, and other locations, where gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph are expected.

Widespread rain is anticipated across north, south, and Saurashtra-Kutch regions. Central and south Gujarat may see particularly heavy downpours on Thursday, June 26. The IMD has warned of very heavy rain at isolated places in Aravalli, Mahisagar, Chhota Udepur, and Dahod. Bhavnagar, Amreli, Panchmahal, Narmada, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli may experience heavy rainfall.

On June 27, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, and Aravalli may receive very heavy showers, while isolated heavy rain is expected in Kutch, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Mahisagar, Dahod, Navsari, Valsad, and the union territories of Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

South Gujarat Hit Hard By Rains

Several areas in South Gujarat experienced intense rainfall. Surat received 4.59 inches of rain by Tuesday morning and another 0.58 inches during the day. Daman saw 6.78 inches in total 3.17 inches in the morning and 3.61 inches by evening. VV Nagar got 1.42 inches in the morning and 0.51 inches later, while Vadodara received a combined 2 inches throughout the day.

Isolated locations in Surat saw extremely heavy rainfall, while very heavy rain occurred in Anand, Narmada, Tapi, and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
