AI Summit Protest News: Days after Congress' shirtless protest at AI Impact Summit, the Delhi Police arrested a fifth accused on Monday. The individual, apprehended in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, was identified as Jitendra Yadav, a local resident with ties to Congress, ANI reported. Amid the brewing controversy, a photo of Yadav with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has emerged on social media.

The Delhi Police claimed that the accused staged a protest similar to the GenZ protest seen in Nepal, with the specific intent of demeaning India on the international stage. Yadav is currently in custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
What Did The Court Say?
On Saturday, a Delhi court approved a five-day custody period for four other Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers. The court described the workers' conduct as illegitimate and a "blatant assault on public order" that damaged India's international reputation.
During the plea for custodial interrogation, the magistrate stated that the accused not only imperiled the event's sanctity but also undermined the "country's diplomatic image before foreign stakeholders, rendering it entirely unprotected by constitutional safeguards". Additionally, the court indicated that custodial interrogation is crucial to uncovering a larger conspiracy and securing digital evidence that might otherwise be overlooked.
What Happened At The Summit?
India recently hosted a five-day international summit on Artificial Intelligence. The event, which began on February 16, featured global leaders, policymakers, tech giants and innovators showcasing new-age technology.
The disruption occurred when approximately 10 activists of Congress’s youth wing entered the venue at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and staged a shirtless protest. The group raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemning the India-US trade deal while carrying T-shirts printed with images of PM Modi and US President Donald Trump.

The agitation has sparked a political firestorm. BJP leaders have condemned the act as "anti-national", accusing the Congress of sabotaging India's global standing. In response, Congress defended the demonstration as a legitimate act of democratic dissent reflecting the frustrations of the youth.
