A London-bound Air India flight, scheduled to depart from Ahmedabad, was cancelled on Tuesday, June 17, due to some technical glitch. This comes after the deadly Ahmedabad to London Air India flight crash that killed 241 passengers on June 12.

The information indicated that Air India plane AI 159 had reached Ahmedabad from New Delhi and was ready to depart for London.

Another of the carrier's flights was canceled on Monday due to operational difficulties, resulting in the crew's duty time expiring.

According to ANI, Air India's flight AI2493 from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was scheduled to be flown by an Airbus A321-211 aircraft (VT-PPL).

Air India has issued a statement regarding the same and said that the flight AI159 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick has been cancelled today due to the unavailability of the aircraft, resulting from airspace restrictions and additional precautionary checks.

It has denied claims of any technical glitch in the aircraft. "We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers and have made alternative arrangements to fly them to their destination. We are providing hotel accommodation and also offering full refunds on cancellations or complimentary rescheduling if opted by the passengers. Consequently, flight AI170 from London Gatwick to Amritsar on 17th June stands cancelled," it added.

An Air India aircraft from San Francisco to Mumbai experienced a technical problem with one of its engines early Tuesday.

Another passenger said, "Our flight is being booked. I had booked my tickets (on San Francisco-Mumbai flight) in January..."

All passengers on the trip were instructed to disembark at the Kolkata airport, where the jet had landed for a stopover.

 On Monday, an Air India Express aircraft from Delhi to Ranchi was redirected back to Delhi shortly after takeoff owing to a suspected technical fault.

Previously, an Air India flight returned to Hong Kong shortly after departure owing to a mid-air technical failure.

Air India stated in a statement that the New Delhi-bound jet arrived in Hong Kong safely and was being checked "as a matter of abundant precaution."
