An Air India flight from Colombo to Chennai carrying 158 passengers suffered a bird strike during landing on Tuesday. Due to the incident, the airline canceled the plane’s return journey to Sri Lanka. All passengers onboard disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported, airline officials confirmed.
The bird strike was discovered after the aircraft landed at Chennai Airport. The plane has been grounded for thorough inspections, and the airline canceled its return journey as a precaution, officials said. Air India arranged an alternate flight for 137 passengers, who later departed for Colombo.

This incident comes just two days after an Air India flight between Amritsar and Birmingham faced a mid-air technical issue when its emergency Ram Air Turbine (RAT) deployed unexpectedly during final approach on October 4. Operating as flight AI117, the aircraft landed safely at Birmingham Airport.
The airline stated that the RAT, a critical safety device that provides emergency power in case of dual engine failure or total loss of primary power, activated despite all electrical and hydraulic systems functioning normally. The crew maintained full control throughout the descent, ensuring a smooth and safe landing.
