Aam Admi Party MLA Professor Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra from the Amargarh assembly constituency was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on November 6 afternoon. He was detained from his office located in Tasra Enclave on Malerkotla-Ludhiana Road.

He was reportedly holding a meeting with the party's block ahead and workers when the ED arrested him in connection with a 2014 bank loan case of Rs 40 crore.

According to reports, an investigation is underway regarding the matter, in which he was also earlier interrogated by CBI and ED. He was also summoned for questioning by the ED some time ago, after which he was abruptly detained on Monday. After taking him into custody, the ED team transported him to Jalandhar.

Earlier this year, the ED raided the home of Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra. For about 14 hours, ED agents raided his home. The ED team then took Rs 32 lakh in cash and three mobile phones from Majra's house, according to Majra.

Prior to that, in May 2022, the CBI conducted raids at three locations, including Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra's ancestral home in Malerkotla, as part of an investigation into bank fraud involving over Rs 40 crore. In response to Bank of Baroda's complaint, this action was taken.
