Laura Loomer, a far-right influencer, activist, and journalist known for her divisive views, has recently sparked outrage with her inflammatory comments about India. Loomer, 31, who has become notorious for spreading conspiracy theories and controversial statements, made a series of offensive remarks in defence of the America First policy, a nationalistic stance advocating for prioritising US interests above others.
In her latest tweet, Loomer accused India of lacking basic infrastructure, claiming that the country does not have running water or toilet paper. Taking a dig at Indians, Loomer sarcastically remarked, “High-skilled immigrants” who don’t have running water or toilet paper. Lmao. Loomer further stated that she did not care if she was labelled racist for her remarks, a statement that drew widespread condemnation from both Indian-American communities and other groups who see her comments as offensive and harmful.
Loomer Says India’s Talent Should Stay Home
Loomer defended her stance on immigration, stating that she supports the original MAGA policies, including a reduction in H-1B visas, rather than their extension. She criticised tech billionaires for influencing US immigration policy to bring in cheap labour from India and China, accusing them of undermining American workers. Loomer further claimed that if India was truly ‘high-skilled’, its people would not be flocking to the US.
“If India was so high skilled people would stay there instead of flocking to the US. You’re not going to shame me into tempering my thoughts. I really am past the point of giving a fuck,” she wrote in a post on X.
.@VivekGRamaswamy knows that the Great Replacement is real. So does @JDVance. It’s not racist against Indians to want the original MAGA policies I voted for. I voted for a reduction in H1B visas. Not an extension. And I would happily say it to their face because there’s nothing… https://t.co/vO2e33USE1 pic.twitter.com/EH4hpJxiNH

She dismissed accusations of racism, stating that the term has lost its meaning and is used to silence true Trump supporters who advocate for strong immigration policies. She also questioned India's development, implying that the country’s condition contradicted its supposed high skill level.
“I don’t care about being called “racist” by people who don’t have the best interest of the American worker in mind. If India is such a high skilled society, why does it look like this? Just admit you want cheap labour. I don’t care about being called racist, she added.
Indians Hit Back
Loomer criticised Trump's nominee for Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence, Sriram Krishnan, accusing him of wanting to remove country caps for green cards. In response, Indian-origin tech entrepreneur Sidharth defended the importance of high-skilled immigration to the US. He argued in a post on Elon Musk's X platform that such immigrants are crucial for maintaining America's global leadership.
Anyone opposing high-skilled immigration is fundamentally anti-American. This nation was built by immigrants who drove innovation, from Albert Einstein revolutionizing science to Sergey Brin reshaping technology. High-skilled immigrants create jobs, fuel economic growth, and…

High-skilled immigrants create jobs, fuel economic growth, and ensure America stays ahead globally,” he said.
While Loomer criticised the influx of Indian workers under the H-1B visa program, another user defended the role of Indian talent in America, stating that the country wouldn't exist without Indian excellence.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk defended Sriram Krishnan’s views on immigration and green card caps, criticising the controversy surrounding them. Musk argued that the ‘fixed pie’ fallacy is a flawed economic mindset, emphasising the limitless potential for job and company creation. His comments came hours after Loomer criticised Krishnan’s immigration policies on X, labelling them as anti-MAGA. Krishnan had earlier tweeted that removing country caps for green cards and unlocking skilled immigration would be a significant step forward.
The “fixed pie” fallacy is at the heart of much wrong-headed economic thinking.

There is essentially infinite potential for job and company creation.
