Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday lashed out at Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his remarks during a three-day visit to the United States. Gandhi made remarks on Sikhs, the caste census, and the quota system besides meeting US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, who is known for her anti-India stance. Shah accused Rahul Gandhi of "speaking anti-national things and standing with forces that break the country.”

Taking to social media platform X, Amit Shah wrote, “Speaking anti-national things and standing with forces that break the country has become a habit of Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party. Whether it is supporting the anti-national and anti-reservation agenda of JKNC in Jammu and Kashmir, or speaking anti-India things on foreign forums, Rahul Gandhi has always hurt the security and sentiments of the country.”

“Talking about discrimination from language to language, region to region and religion to religion shows the divisive thinking of Rahul Gandhi,” he added.

He said by talking about ending the reservation system, Rahul Gandhi has once again brought the “anti-reservation face” of the Congress in front of the country. He warned that till BJP existed, “no one can touch reservation or jeopardise nation’s security”.

“The thoughts and ideas in the mind always come out through some medium or the other. I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that as long as BJP is there, no one can touch reservation and no one can play with the unity of the country,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi's Take On Sikhs

Addressing the Indian diaspora at an event in Washington DC on Monday, Rahul Gandhi had said, "First of all, you have to understand what the fight is about. Fight is not about politics. It is superficial." He then proceeded to ask a member of the audience his name.

After the man responded, the Congress leaders said, "The fight is about whether...he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That's what the fight is about and not just for him, for all religions."

Rahul Gandhi On Caste Census, Quota System

While interacting with students at Georgetown University on Monday, Rahul Gandhi, reiterated his demand for a caste census and said the Congress party wanted to know the socio-economic position of lower castes in India.

He stated that the Congress party would think of scrapping reservations when India becomes a “fair place”, which is not the case right now.
