A man was killed after the hand-made firecrackers that he was carrying on his scooter on Diwali exploded in the Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh. The deceased was carrying 'onion bombs', a Diwali firecracker on his Honda Activa scooter. The explosion happened as the bombs fell when the bike hit a pothole near a local temple. 

Sudhakar, who was riding the scooter, suffered fatal injuries with severe burns and died. The injured have been identified as Tabelu Sai, Suvara Shashi, K Srinivasa Rao, SK Khadar, Suresh, and Satish. Diwali 'bombs' had the same explosive power as an IED, or improvised explosive device, NDTV reported, citing several reports.

The tragedy was captured on CCTV, in which two men could be seen riding on a narrow street. The bike exploded as it approached a point where the street met the main road. The people standing at the junction got injured in the incident.

The entire area could be seen covered in dark gray smoke, and people who survived the blast could be seen running as they sought help.

The people who survived the blast could be seen holding their ear, demonstrating that the explosion was loud and could have effected their eardrum.

Police rushed to the incident spot and admitted the six injured people to the district hospital, where two people are still in critical condition. The police have filed a case and started the investigation.

An 'onion bomb' is a firecracker that has resemblance to an onion due to its round shape. It produces a powerful bang when ignited and emits a sudden flash. Sometimes it also emits smoke, which is very similar to a small dynamite blast.
