Andhra Badvel-Nellore Highway: The Union government has cleared a major infrastructure project in Andhra Pradesh, approving the development of a four-lane corridor between Badvel and Nellore. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sanctioned the project at a cost of Rs 3,653.10 crore.
The new road stretch will be 108.13 kilometres long and constructed under the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model. It will be built along National Highway 67 and aims to strengthen logistics and industrial connectivity in the region.
Andhra Pradesh: Badvel-Nellore Highway To Link Hyderaba-Bengaluru, Chennai Bengaluru Corridor
The proposed Badvel-Nellore corridor will link key industrial nodes in the state. These include Kopparthy on the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC), Orvakal on the Hyderabad–Bengaluru corridor (HBIC) and Krishnapatnam on the Chennai–Bengaluru corridor (CBIC). The project is expected to improve India’s overall logistics performance by streamlining transport routes in Andhra Pradesh.
Gopavaram Village To Krishnapatnam Port Junction
Starting from Gopavaram village in YSR Kadapa district, the road will end at Krishnapatnam Port junction on NH-16 in SPSR Nellore district. The corridor will directly connect to the port, reducing the existing travel distance by almost 34 kilometres—from 142 km to just over 108 km. This will cut travel time by nearly one hour, lower fuel usage and reduce the vehicle operating cost and carbon emissions.

Andhra Pradesh Badvel-Nellore Highway To Create Employment
According to government estimates, the project will create around 20 lakh man-days of direct employment and another 23 lakh man-days indirectly. It is also expected to generate fresh economic activity along the route and around the port area.
Officials say the new corridor will play a crucial role in easing cargo movement and supporting regional development, especially through better access to industrial hubs and the Krishnapatnam Port.
