Arvind Kejriwal Latest News:  The Rouse Avenue Court on Friday sent Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to a 6-Day Enforcement Directorate remand in the Delhi liquor policy case. The probe agency has demanded a 10-day remand for the accused, however, the court allowed only one week remand.

AAP leader Gopal Rai said that AAP will gherao the Prime Minister's residence on March 26 to protest against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Also, party workers will not celebrate Holi in protest.

Ahead of the decision on ED's demand for Arvind Kejriwal's remand, the Delhi police beefed up the security outside the Rouse Avenue court.

On Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal said his arrest was a betrayal with the people of Delhi, and lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post in Hindi on X, Sunita Kejriwal said, "Modi-ji got your thrice-elected chief minister arrested due to his arrogance of power and is trying to crush everyone. This is a betrayal with the people of Delhi. Your chief minister has always stood with you. Whether inside (jail) or outside, his life is dedicated to the country. The public is supreme and knows everything. Jai Hind."

In Kurukshetra, Haryana, police deployed water cannons to scatter supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who were protesting against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Opposing the submissions made by the lawyers representing Delhi CM Kejriwal, ED said that the approver's statement is scrutinised at the trial stage, not at remand plea.

"How much weight should be given to an approver's statement can only be a consideration at the time of trial. It can't be argued in a remand application," said ED.

Arvind Kejriwal Latest Updates:  While arguing the case against Delhi CM Kejriwal, ASG alleged that the accused had destroyed electronic evidence in the case.

"This case has a history of destruction of huge electronic evidence. A large number of phones have been destroyed. Despite that the ED has done a wonderful service," he said.

The layers representing the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal moved the plea to reject the remand prayer by the ED.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar has weighed in on the recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Chandrashekhar expressed bewilderment and irony at the opposition's response to Kejriwal's arrest.

“The opposition’s reaction to Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest is absolutely mystifying and extremely ironic. Despite going to court and the court not upholding his plea to let out of this investigation, Arvind Kejriwal has ignored the ED's notice to appear before it to investigate his alcohol bribery corruption scam; and now to act as if it’s a shock or surprise that the process of an investigation into a corruption scam should not end up with his arrest when he is deliberately opposing the investigation,” he said.

Arvind Kejriwal ED Arrest Case:  Saying that the 'power of arrest is not equal to the need of arrest', Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer AM Singhvi submitted that the ED's arrest does not satisfy section 19 (1) of the PMLA Act. He highlighted that Rs 45 crores have been tracked through hawala channels, with the funds reportedly used during the Goa election.

Kejriwal News: While contending that AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal is the kingpin and mastermind behind the Delhi Excise Policy Case, the Additional Solicitor General SV Raju submits that every person who was part of the plan shall be deemed as a guilty person.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday withdrew his plea against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a liquor policy case from the Supreme Court of India. He will contest remand proceedings in a lower court.

A day after Arvind Kejriwal’s dramatic arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case, a team of doctors arrived at the federal probe agency’s office for the medical examination of the Delhi Chief Minister. 

The opposition INDIA bloc slammed the ruling BJP over Kejriwal’s arrest and extended its support to the AAP. Addressing a press conference of the party late on Thursday night, Atishi said, "Congress and the INDIA alliance are with us. We will together save democracy."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday moved the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy. Kejriwal’s lawyers are likely to present a plea challenging ED’s arrest today.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai says, "If the BJP thinks that they can finish the Aam Aadmi Party and threaten the entire Opposition by arresting Arvind Kejriwal, then they are wrong...A battle has begun. We have decided that we will stage a protest at the BJP headquarters at 10 am tomorrow..."

Alleging that the Arvind Kejriwal's arrest is illegal, the Aam Aadmi Party has approached the Supreme Court against the ED action. Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi says, "We have put an application in the Supreme Court against the illegal arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. It will be mentioned in the Supreme Court tomorrow morning. We hope that the Supreme Court will protect democracy."

The Aam Aadmi Party calls for protest against the arrest of its national convener Arvind Kejriwal. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, AAP Minister Gopal Rai says, "Tomorrow at 10 am we will hold a protest against the BJP party over the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal by the ED."

AAP MP Sandeep Pathak and Delhi Minister Atishi also address the press conference.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla hits out at the Delhi CM saying, "Kejriwal has been playing the victim card and has skipped nine summons of the ED."

"The Supreme Court has denied relief to Manish Sisodia. Still, they claim themselves to be honest. Sanjay Singh's bail plea was also denied by the high court. Vijay Nair (head of Communications, AAP) has also not been granted relief for a year," the BJP leader adds.

Before Arvind Kejriwal, senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain and Sanjay Singh were arrested and they have been incarcerated for over a year.

Rahul Gandhi targets the Central government over Arvind Kejriwal's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. "A scared dictator wants to create a dead democracy. While capturing all the institutions including the media, breaking up the parties, extorting money from companies, freezing the account of the main opposition party was not enough for the 'devilish power', now the arrest of the elected Chief Ministers has also become a common thing. INDIA will give a befitting reply to this," he says.

Commenting on Kejriwal's arrest by ED, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Fakhrul Hasan Chaand says, "Those from the Opposition will raise their voice against the government, they have to face the agencies."

Reacting to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's arrest, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh says, "This is vindictive politics ahead of Lok Sabha elections. BJP knows it is losing from every state that is why it is targeting non-BJP parties and leaders and pressuring them by using Central Agencies..."

AAP leader Atishi alleges "political conspiracy" behind Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. She says the agency has not been able to recover a single rupee in two years, even though more than 500 officers were on the case.

Amid reports of the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi said that there is a report of Kejriwal's arrest by ED. She added that it was clear from the heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces (outside the Delhi CM's residence).

As ED searches the home of Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Legislative Assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel says, "It's known by all that Manish Sisodia had been arrested but nothing has been found. 600 more people have been arrested by now. They want to suppress the voice of Arvind Kejriwal before the election, and hence they want to arrest him."

The lane leading to Arvind Kejriwal's official residence in Civil Lines has been barricaded and additional police personnel have been deployed there. Officers of the rank of assistant commissioner of police have also been deployed near the chief minister's residence, PTI cites officials as saying.

The Enforcement Directorate officials is visiting Arvind Kejriwal's residence to serve him a summons. The ED action comes soon after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him protection from coercive action in an liquor policy-linked money laundering case.

The Enforcement Directorate carries out searches at the Civil Lines residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The AAP national convener faces probe in an alleged case of corruption and money laundering in formulating and implementing the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped.
